  • (bright music) - Some of the unique experiences traveling in the quiet season is the guides can show you special places. - I mean, we've been the only ship in port, I think in all of the places we've gone to so far. - We walk right up, we get right on, we go right in, I mean, there's just no, virtually no waiting. - I have traveled in the Med for many years, my first trip was during August and it was unbelievably hot and crowded, and so the decision was made, don't do that again. - We didn't take our vacation to stand in line, we didn't take our vacation to be scrunched together, and we didn't take our vacation hoping somebody get out of a way so I could take a good photograph.

  • We took our vacation to enjoy all of those things, and with Viking in the quiet season, it was easy. - The weather was like never an issue, it was never so hot that you were uncomfortable, it was never so cold that you were uncomfortable. - [Traveler 1] Various places we've gone, the Acropolis, Pompeii, the Coliseum, the Forum in Rome, Flores, have all been much less crowded than what we would've expected to see. - [Traveler 2] There's fewer people, I get more attention from my guide.

  • I get to see more things 'cause I don't have people in the way and I have a better value, so I get more for my money. - [Traveler 3] Traveling in the quiet season gives more opportunities to interact with your guide. - We've had ability to really get with our tour guides and learn about their experiences and they got to take us to places where I don't think they take everybody.

  • There was not a time crunch, I got another, I got another, I got another, I got another.

  • So they had flexibility and that flexibility has huge value. - The one-on-one time that we had in Turkey with our guide afforded us the ability to ask him questions and we weren't disturbing the whole tour, but he was able to give us that time because of the smaller crowds.

  • We could ask questions and talk with each other and it's just been phenomenal, it's just been terrific. - Something that's very important to me is photography, and coming during the quiet season, the opportunity to do that was very present.

  • There were very few people to try and gain space to get the great photo, the perfect picture, that awesome image that you see on the Viking commercials that I want to replicate, I want to bring home, it was easy to do.

  • I wasn't arm wrestling other tourists. - We were on the Acropolis the other day and our guide mentioned that you can have 3000 people an hour starting the tour and we had maybe a few hundred up at the top on the Acropolis, so it definitely made it much easier to get around and see the buildings without having to juggle our way through the crowd.

  • I could focus on walking at my own pace rather than wanting to hurry to keep up with somebody else or being in somebody else's way, which happens when you have so many people. - It's just been a wonderful experience, and the quiet season, we would do it again.

  • We would highly recommend it. - We're really pleased when we decided to do Viking and we're really pleased that we decided to do Viking in the quiet season because we have great staff, we have great support, we don't have all the people and we don't have all the bugs, and I get my photographs.

  • And it's just a positive experience and I save money.

  • So that's, how can you do better than that? (bright music)
