Give the gift of knowledge with a special book subscription service from iconic London bookseller Heywood Hill, curator of Viking ships’ onboard libraries.
Video Transcript
-
(relaxing music) - [Narrator] The ships of Viking sail with the most sophisticated, thought-provoking, libraries on the water.
-
They're curated by Heywood Hill, the renowned London Bookshop, which was awarded a royal warrant of appointment by Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2011.
-
And for the rest of us, Heywood Hill also offers a yearly subscription plan that delivers a good read chosen just for you every month. - [Nicky] The essence of this business is good writing and our shared love of good writing, and there are 16 of us here, and we all have the passion for good books.
-
The heart of what we do here is recommending books individually, and we thought, well, why not open that service to people who can't come into the shop?
-
And so we set up a very bespoke subscription service where one of our expert booksellers has a conversation, hopefully in person, but perhaps over the telephone or even online, to find out what your taste in reading really is and where you are in your reading.
-
And that begins a fabulous relationship with our shop.
-
I'm pleased to say that that service has really taken off and is happening all over the world.
-
Our subscriptions team read at least 500 titles a year between them.
-
It's an extraordinary thing.
-
My team spends all day thinking about individual customers and what they should read next, what they might like to read the following month. - [Narrator] Heywood Hill is a very special place filled with intriguing books and inspiring people.
-
I hope you'll do as I did, and check out their subscription service for yourself, or perhaps give it as a gift to someone special.
