Day 2 - Gobi Desert

After breakfast, check out and head to the airport for your flight to Dalanzadgad Airport. Transfer to your lodge in the Gobi Desert, then enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure or choose to partake in one of a wide range of included lodge activities, such as archery, a camel safari or an exploration of the famous Flaming Cliffs. Days 3 & 4 - Gobi Desert

Spend the next two days partaking in lodge activities at your own pace. You may choose to join fellow early risers for a sunrise trek through the desert hills with a naturalist guide. Or take in panoramic views of the steppe from Bulagtai Mountain, where you can examine ancient petroglyphs. Alternatively, learn the secrets of making buuz (steamed dumplings) from your Mongolian chef. Later, sip a cocktail as you watch the sunset at the Flaming Cliffs, then enjoy the stars after dinner. Day 5 - Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport for your flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival, stop at your hotel before visiting the Choijin Lama Temple Museum, home to a large collection of Buddhist artifacts. After lunch, visit the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, and step behind the scenes for a look at fossil specimens and more in the paleontology lab. Day 3 - Beijing

After a hearty breakfast, set out to explore the expansive Tiananmen Square, a place of great cultural significance, and explore the imperial palace of the Forbidden City. This UNESCO Site once served as home to emperors from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. Spend the remainder of your day at your leisure or join an optional excursion. You may visit the Summer Palace, known as the “Museum of Royal Gardens,” or explore Beijing’s hutongs by rickshaw. (B)

Xian City Walls

Day 4 - Xian

This morning, head out with your guide to visit the Terra Cotta Army Museum, part of the remarkable mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang. The emperor commissioned more than 8,000 life-size clay warriors to guard his tomb, said to be filled with treasures. Return to your hotel this afternoon and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
